For roasting purposes

Yes, Kathy Dupuy and I spontaneously knocked out a parody on the Christmas song almost thirty years ago, replacing some words with the intervals sung. Hayes Biggs improvised some modifications, and eventually I put it all on my website, and then as a Page on my blog.

Then those words got sent out, uncredited, in a flurry of e-mails, and a guy with a lousy voice did his own version of it for a YouTube video that got almost half a million views.

It is clear there were two purposes to all of this:

1) so a bunch of people could nearly come to blows in the video's comments arguing what a tritone is.
2) so Kathy Dupuy could tell her own story in the comments about the provenance of the words, and have her comment flagged by YouTube as spam.
