... in October 1989. I was interviewed in my NYC apartment about rap lyrics. I represented the Ivy League academic crowd, as if they had a stake in that debate.

I got that gig because I happened to be walking by the Columbia music department office when the call for a talking head came in, and Cynthia Lemiesz called to me "Davy, want to be on CNN?"

They sent me the times and dates the piece would air. But they turned out to be pre-empted by coverage of Hurricane Hugo. Much later, the piece did air, but we never saw it. One of Beff's relatives did. There was no qualitative assessment by Beff's relative.
